The West Wind Wildcats Are Looking For A Few Good Men!

• Students gain a positive male role model.  Many of our students do not have a father-figure present in their home and these students benefit when a positive male role model is present.
• Fathers get to experience their child's everyday world and learn about the increasingly complex challenges and decisions our children are facing.  This allows fathers to learn how to relate to their children better and hopefully connect with them even more.
• Fathers experience and understand the positive impact they can have on their child's life in three critical areas: academic performance; self esteem; and social behavior.
• Our school gains an extra set of eyes and ears.  The presence of a father-figure enhances a sense of security at the school for students and staff and helps create an environment conducive to learning.

W.I.L.D. Club Members are fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures (as long as they are at least 18) who volunteer for at least one day each year at our school.  During the day, we may read and work on flash cards with kids, assist teachers with small groups of students who need additional help in a subject, play at recess, eat lunch with our child, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, mentor students, and any other assigned activities where we actively engage with not only our own children, but other students as well.  While we are NOT acting as security guards, our mere presence offers additional security at the school during the day!
